We are delighted to announce that Katherine will headline this year’s Glasgow BBC Proms in the Park celebrations at this year’s open-air concert on Glasgow Green on Saturday 13 September, along with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra who will be under the baton of conductor Stephen Bell.
Katherine Jenkins says: “It’s always such an honour to be asked to perform at the Proms and this time is even more exciting because it will be my first Prom in Glasgow. It’s a wonderful city that holds some great memories for me and it’s also where my grandmother was from.”
The evening will be hosted by tenor and BBC Radio Scotland presenter Jamie MacDougall.
Proms in the Park marks the culmination of the BBC Proms season, as thousands of people come together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night. This year’s Scottish celebrations on Glasgow Green will include the traditional live big-screen link-up to the Royal Albert Hall for a family sing-along from Disney’s Mary Poppins. Families and all music lovers of all ages are invited to bring picnics and deck chairs to enjoy the atmosphere and help make this a special night of celebrations.
The first half of the concert will be broadcast live on BBC Two Scotland and will be linked up to BBC One for the sing-a-long in part two. BBC Red Button will be showing highlights from the different Proms in the Park events during the evening. The concert will be broadcast live online and on BBC Radio Scotland.
